Hello everyone,
As many of you know, I have recently launched PA SET Explorer. Being a brand-new independent software, some antivirus engines (especially Windows Defender / SmartScreen) may flag the executable as "unrecognized" or "potentially malicious" when you try to run it.
I want to be 100% transparent with the community and explain why this is happening and the steps I am taking to resolve it:
1. Why is it being flagged?
The program is developed in Python and compiled using a tool called Nuitka. Antivirus algorithms often treat "packed" executables from unknown developers as suspicious by default until they build up a reputation. Furthermore, because the app modifies .SET files and connects to my server to verify your license, the heuristic analysis (AI) flags this as "unusual activity" even though it is a core function of the software.
2. Is there any risk?
Absolutely NOT. The code was written entirely by me and contains no malware, spyware, or malicious scripts. This is a classic case of what we call a "False Positive."
3. What am I doing about it?
I have already submitted the software to Microsoft Security Intelligence for a manual human review. The submission is currently "Pending." Once their analysts confirm the file is safe, Windows Defender will white-list the app, and the warnings will disappear for everyone. I am also reaching out to other major security vendors to clear the app's reputation.
What can you do in the meantime?
If you wish to use the tool immediately, you can add an exception to your antivirus or click "Run anyway" on the SmartScreen prompt. However, I completely understand if you prefer to wait a few days until the official Microsoft validation is complete for your peace of mind.
My goal is to provide the Korg community with the most reliable and modern management tool available, and your security is my top priority.
Thank you for your patience and for supporting this project! 👇🎹
